St Barnabas' Church, Mitcham Saturday 3rd March 2012 at 19:30

As part of the BBC Music Nation countdown event to the Olympics, this lovely big church will burst into life as we perform Carl Orff's iconic Carmina Burana. About 65 of us will be joined by 30 young singers and a wind, brass and percussion orchestra of 30 from Merton Music Foundation, plus two pianos. We will also have dramatic lighting effects, and projected artwork from pupils of Links, Merton Abbey and Singlegate primary schools, facilitated by artist Sally Booth.

Doors open at 18:45. Performance time is about 90 minutes. Refreshments will be available afterwards.

The event will be attended by the Mayor of Merton, Councillor Gilli Lewis-Lavender, the Mayor's Consort, Mr Brian Lewis-Lavender and Ms Siobhan McDonagh, MP.

The poster is available as a PDF here.

We recommend using public transport, as parking is difficult to find. The church is about 5 minutes' walk from Tooting suburban rail station (Wimbledon, Central London), and on many bus routes (264, 270, 280, 355) from Tooting Broadway Underground station - get off at the next stop after Tooting station and walk across the grass to Gorringe Park Avenue.

There may be a small number of returns available at the door.

For guests who have booked online, please bring a printout of your Nochex email receipt and we will exchange it for tickets at the door - we are not sending out tickets in the post.

Note that we will be performing extracts from the piece the next day at the Roundhouse.
